“You’re Under No Obligation to be The Same Person You Were 5 Minutes Ago.” — Alan Watts
My interpretation of this quote is that you can always improve and it only takes 5 minutes (or a small amount of time) to do so.
I chose this quote because it reflects my motivation, as I want to continuously look forward in life and always try to better myself. As well as you don’t have to wait too long to improve yourself or that the quote can also refer to having a bad day and being able to get over it as soon as possible. I never want to be held back by the past and would use the experiences to always improve myself.
My Inspiration
For me, my friend in grade 7 was one of the biggest impacts in my life and is one of the main reasons that shaped me into being the person I am today. The key attribute that I learned from him and what I always try to emanate, was how he could make everyone laugh and smile in almost all situations.
I wanted to become more like that because it made everyone comfortable when they were happy. I learned how to incorporate this into my professional life as it was easier to communicate either through presentations or general networking when everyone was in a good mood.
